Happy New Year everyone! Hope you all had a fantastic Christmas, ate lots of food, had lots of new makeup, and finished with a merry NYE ;)
I recently purchased a new MAC pigment in the shade Kitschmas on a recent visit to the store. MAC pigments are just incredible and I was really drawn to this shade and its silvery lilac sheen, and knew it would just look amazing. I have really been loving the popular triangular smokey eye look, which is a darker eyeshadow on inner, outer, and crease of the eye, and a lighter pop of colour in the centre of the lid. I think it looks really flattering and gives that flawless effect with minimal effort, so I decided to create a triangular smoke look as my New Year Eve makeup using my new pigment.
I absolutely loved the finish results and I have fallen in love with this pigment HARD. I personally am not usually a false lash wearer, however I'm glad I decided to put some on last minute as I think they looked fantastic. Below is a mini write up of the products and techniques I used to create this glam look:
Base: I love a flawless base and I recently purchased two new base products from MAC (seriously I live in there nowadays haha!). The first was the Prep + Prime Skin Primer, and also the Studio Sculpt Foundation. These two together are a DREAM! They give flawless skin in seconds and last the entire day. The primer feels like velvet and makes your skin the perfect base for makeup, and the foundation blends really quick and easy for saying it has quite a thick texture. If you have quite dry skin, I would avoid the foundation as I can imagine it might not be the most hydrating and will cling to dry patches, but for people with oily or normal skin, you need this in your life! I then used the L'Oreal Lumi Magique Concealer under the eyes and Rimmel Lasting Finish Concealer on some blemishes I had. I used the Look Good Feel Better Multi-Tasking Brush for all these products; it is a fantastic brush for blending and the brand is for an amazing cause. I set all these products with the NYX Studio Finishing Powder in Translucent using their powder brush.
Bronzer/Contour: I used a Kiko Contour Stick which I purchased from their 2015 Christmas collection under my cheekbones, and blended out with the Look Good Feel Better Angled Contour Brush (I really cannot fault these brushes, they wash really well too). Although Kiko are not selling the exact same contour stick anymore, they have one similar which is a permanent product and everything I have ever used from Kiko has been of super quality. I then used another new MAC purchase (someone please take away my bank card) which is Global Glow Mineralize Skinfinish. I have been absolutely loving this, it gives a gorgeous, healthy bronze glow to the skin and the highlight in it just pops in the light *heart eyes emoji* (I apply this with the R.T Blush Brush which ensures you don't go overboard and look like a satsuma).
Eyes: Now for the main part of the look. I started by priming my eyes with the U.D Eyeshadow Primer Potion so the look lasted all night. I then took the Eye Wonder Palette from the Stila Sending My Love Set, and using a fluffy brush from the R.T Eye Starter Set (really recommend this set by the way) I applied the dark brown shade, mixed with a small amount of the dark purple shade, on the inner, outer, and crease of the eye, blending until there were no harsh lines. I then used the E1 Brush from MUA (amazing brushes at a SUPER cheap price) and sprayed with some MAC Fix + to help pick the pigment up and give that intense foil finish, and dipped it into a small amount of the MAC pigment. I then patted this into the centre of the lid where the eyeshadow was not applied, and that was the eyeshadow finished! It really was that simple and the result was gorgeous. I then did a small wing eyeliner using MAC Fluidline Eyeliner in Blacktrack and the Spectrum Collections A17 Brush. I used to be awful at eyeliner until I purchased this brush, it makes the whole application 10x easier as the slanted shape does the wing for you and it is so stiff which helps with giving a straight, smooth line (it is currently on sale too!). I then used the smallest sized lashes from the Eylure Lash Wardrobe Paris Set to really give that glam look (I use Duo Lash Glue if curious).
Brows: Using my holy grail L'Oreal Brow Artist Plumper brushed through the brows.
Lips: With the eyes being the statement piece of the look, I wanted to keep the lips quite toned down. I decided on the Smashbox Be Legendary Gloss in Coraline which is one of my all time favourtie glosses.
And there you have it, my NYE makeup look! I think this is one of my favourite looks to date and I will most certainly be creating it again. The next MAC pigment on my list is Melon (so much for the spending ban!)
Hope you all enjoyed this look and let me know if there are anymore you would like to see over here on the blog.
Lots of love,
Hannah x
